Supporting Our Partner Ministries

Good morning,

On Sunday I announced that, like last year, we will be doing a collection to help support Oxford Neighborhood Services during the Lenten season.  This year we will be collecting boxes of cereal, as that is one of the most needed items that they currently have.  We’ll be collecting the boxes for the next three weeks (3/3, 3/10/3/17).  You can bring your donations to the church and we’ll take everything over to ONS after the 17th.

With spring quickly approaching, it is also fundraising season for a number of our local ministry partners.  If you are able, consider supporting one or more of the following events.

ServeNow has its annual banquet on Thursday, March 21st from 6:30 – 8pm at the Doubletree Resort in Willow Street.  Tickets are free and there will be a free-will offering received.  If you are interested, you can register at weservenow.org/pa-banquet by March 7th.  Kendall Keeler will be at the Bridge on 3/17, and he is hoping to bring the keynote speaker along with him!

Solid Rock Youth Ministries is holding its Spring Auction and Ham Dinner on Friday, March 22nd at Wesley Church.   Dinner begins at 6 pm and the auction starts at 7:10. Dinner tickets are $15 for ages 13 and up, $8 for ages 6-12 and kids 5 and under are free.  You can also attend just the auction at no charge, although Solid Rock still asks that you register.  Check out solidrockquarryville.com/auction-2024 for more information.  RSVP is by March 16th.

Lighthouse Youth Center has its annual banquet on Thursday, April 25th beginning at 6:30 pm at Bethany Christian School in Oxford. Tickets are free and there will be free-will offering received.  I believe this one is a steak dinner!  Anyone interested in attending can register by emailing the Lighthouse at info@oxfordlighthouse.org or calling them at 610-467-6000 by April 5th.

Cornerstone Reproductive Health is having a Ladies Tea and Auction on Saturday, May 4th at Linville Hill School.  Tickets are $40 if registered by April 22nd and $45 the day of the event.  Learn more about it at pacornerstone.org/support-gap-pennsylvania/charity-events-gap-pennsylvania

Oxford Neighborhood Services is hosting a golf tournament on Friday, May 10 in the morning at Tanglewood Golf Club.  All the information is available at oxfordnsc.org/golf.

Also, as I mentioned on Sunday, Bart Fire Company has its annual Mud Sale this Friday Night and Saturday.  Check out their Facebook (here) page for all the information.  You’ll have to park off site and shuttle in on Saturday…it’s a popular event!  Although Bart Fire isn’t a partner ministry, they are the “First Due” fire company for ABCF.

Here’s what’s happening:

  1. Ladies Prayer Meeting at the Fite home on Saturday, 3/2 starting at 10 am.  If you haven’t already done so, please contact Devon if you are planning to attend.
  2. Junior Youth meet this Sunday.   Senior High meets on 3/10.
  3. Solanco Meat Canning is on March 5 from 3 pm to 7 pm at Lapp’s Butcher Shop.  Come help when you are able and for as long as you are able.  Sign-up sheet is on the        bulletin board in the lobby.
  4. We will be observing Holy Communion on 3/10.
  5. Next Lenten Prayer Meeting will be on 3/13 at 6:30 pm at the church.  We’ll have a brief time of sharing and reading of the Word and then going before the Lord in prayer.
  6. Mark your calendars – Spring Clean Up/Work Day at the church on Saturday, 3/23 starting at 9am.
  7. Because of Easter, Men’s Breakfast will also be on the 23rd, starting at 7:45.  Come eat some eggs and then head to church.
  8. The youth activities for March are attending the musical production of “The Wizard of Oz” at Oxford High School on 3/8 at 7pm and/or the production of “Newsies Jr.” at West Fallowfield Christian School on 3/16 at 3 pm.  See the youth leaders for more details.
  9. We are still in need of greeters. Please see the sign up sheet in the lobby for available Sundays.

This Sunday finds us looking at Matthew 13 and the Parable of the Sower.  Jesus’ teaching on the different ways that people respond to Him and the truth of His Word is as relevant today as it was when He first told the parable.  We’ll look at those different responses and how our own spiritual soil can be fruitful.

See you on Sunday,

Scott
