He Calls Me To His Banqueting Table

Good morning,

Hope everyone is enjoying the fall weather we are having with the cooler temps and the lower humidity.  I imagine that we have at least one more stretch of hot weather to come, but the reminders that fall is upon us are all around.

With fall comes “banqueting season,” as a number of the missions and ministries that ABCF supports have fundraising events in October.  These banquets/dinners/auctions are vital to their funding and typically involve a nice meal, some testimonies and ministry updates and then an opportunity to support their work.  Here is all the information that I have:

October 5th

ICCM ministries led by Rev. O. M. Panicker is having its banquet at the Eden Resort in Lancaster at 7 pm (doors open at 6:30).  Tickets to this banquet are free.  ABCF sponsors a table at this banquet…if you would like to go please see me.

AABS ministries led by J.C. Ebersole is having its banquet and silent auction at the Indian Rock Center at Woodcrest Retreat just north of Ephrata.  Doors open at 6:30 and the banquet begins at 7 pm.  Tickets to this banquet are free.  RSVP to either Betty Esh at 610-286-5780 or Naomi Sensenig at 717-553-3231 by next Monday.  See Pastor Vernon with any questions.
October 12th

New Hope Counseling Center is having its annual Drop-In and Silent Auction from 5-8 pm at New Providence Church of God, just north of Quarryville.  This event is a bit different.  Rather than having a program, you are able to come and leave as your schedule allows.  Different local restaurants have stations set up for you to visit and enjoy some of their dishes.  There is typically entertainment for kids and adults throughout the evening as well.

Tickets to this fundraiser are $20.  You can purchase them here: https://www.newhopeministry.info/2023-dropin-and-silent-auction

 October 27th

Onesimus Prison Ministries is having its banquet at Mt. Vernon Christian Church at 6:30 pm.  RSVP to Pastor Vernon at 610-209-0154 by October 23.  Tickets to this banquet are free.

 November 10th and 11th

Lighthouse Youth Center in Oxford is having its annual dinner and auction at the Center.  Friday night is a “preview dinner.”  Auction starts on Saturday at 9 am.  No tickets are necessary…just show up!

I know that these events are not for everyone, but if you are able to help these organizations I know that your support will be appreciated!

Here’s what’s happening:

  1. ***Forecast for Saturday is not looking promising. We will send out an email soon as to whether we are on for the movie night***  Our annual Drive-In Movie night sponsored by the Junior Youth group is this Saturday 9/23 starting at 7 pm.  Film is “Tommy and the Cool Mule.”  Light snacks will be provided, but feel free to bring your own!
  2. Micah Lehman, the Executive Director of Lighthouse Ministries, will be with us this Sunday and will be giving a ministry update during the morning worship service.
  3. Men’s breakfast is 9/30 at 8am at Hometown Kitchen.
  4. Junior Youth meet after the worship service on 10/1.
  5. Wesley Church is hosting a youth worship night featuring the band Leeland on Wednesday 10/4.  This is a free event, but the church is asking youth groups to preregister (seating is limited).  We would gather at the Bridge at 6 pm to head over to Wesley.  The concert starts at 7 pm.

If your youth would like to go, we need to know by THIS Sunday 9/24 so we can reserve seats.  This is for both youth groups.

Please see me or one of the Junior Youth leaders to sign up.

  1. Senior High Youth meet after the worship service on 10/8.
  2. Items to help with the Oxford recovery effort can be brought to the church this Sunday and next Sunday.  I sent out the list earlier this week…as you can imagine it’s extensive.  There will be an insert in the bulletin this week as well.  If you would be willing to take the donated items over to Oxford Neighborhood Services, please let me know.

This Sunday we will be looking at Nehemiah 2 and how Nehemiah starts the monumental rebuilding project that God has called him to lead.  If you have someone in your life that is facing a rebuild in life and doesn’t know how to get started, this would be a great week to invite them to join you at the Bridge.  If you missed last week’s sermon, I would encourage you to get caught up by watching it on our website or Youtube page.
